CHAT (Changing High-risk Attitudes in Teens)
This individualized counseling series is for young people ages 13 to 25 yrs who would benefit from talking with a Certified Health Education Specialist about their concerns with Sexual Health, HIV & Sexually Transmitted Diseases.
Young people needing behavior change and prevention skill building education will learn about:
· HIV/STD Facts
· Sexuality
· Goal-setting
· Decision Making
· Communication skills
· Abstinence or Safer Sex
The CHAT Program is individual client centered counseling for teens. Each youth is offered four or more or moresessions to focus on their needs and to develop an HIV/STD prevention plan. Counselors educate (using a proven CDC curriculum) and support the youth through building the skills they need to protect themselves from STDs. Referrals to STD testing or other appropriate services are made as needed. Each of the confidential sessions lasts approximately one hour.
