Volunteering

AIDGwinnett volunteers provide critical support to our various program departments including Prevention Education, Client Services, Administration, Fundraising and Special Events.  As our client base continues to grow, we are faced with new challenges but volunteers continue to lead the way.

Our great volunteers (both experienced and new) are ready to face the challenges that lay ahead.

Joining our team is easy!

  2. Download a volunteer application (PDF) or call 678-990-6440 to have one mailed to you.
  3. Call 678-990-6440 to schedule an appointment for an interview and training.
  4. Come to your volunteer interview and orientation appointment.  (directions here)

LIST OF VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

  • Meal Delivery
    Pickup prepared meals from Project Open Hand, or deliver these meals to clients.
  • Client Transportation
    Provide transportation to and from medical and HIV related appointments for clients who would not otherwise have transportation.
  • Buddy Program
    Buddies are trained volunteers that provide emotional and practical support to clients living with HIV and often their families.
  • AGI Calling
    AGI Calling volunteers provide emotional support to clients through monthly phone contact.
  • TOGA ("Teaching Our Generation About AIDS")
    High school age volunteers who are trained to take the message of HIV prevention to their peers.
  • HIV Speakers Bureau
    These volunteers are trained speakers living with HIV, or affected by the disease. These volunteers then share their stories with others.
  • Health Fairs and Outreach
    Help educate the community about HIV by displaying information and distributing literature at various health fairs or outreach activities.
  • HIV Counseling and Testing
    Trained volunteers conduct HIV testing in various community-based settings.
  • The AIDS Walk Fundraiser
    Join the AIDS Walk Team and help raise crucial funds for people living with HIV in our area.
  • Special Events
    Assist in various ways throughout the year helping with the Annual Agency Picnic, The Annual Dinner Event, World AIDS Day and much more.
  • Office Support
    Assist with many facets of Office Administration by answering phones, greeting visitors and assisting with clerical tasks.

In addition to the ongoing jobs posted above, we also have the following additional special volunteer opportunities:

  • HIV Prevention Office Volunteer:  The Prevention Education Volunteer will assist the AIDGwinnett HIV Prevention Education Department by completing pre and post test spreadsheets as directed, maintain incentive items for health fairs and outreach programs, maintain brochures for programs and other duties as assigned and needed to facilitate the prevention education activities of the HIV Prevention Education Department.  Click here for job description.
  • Graphic Designer:  Persons interested in assisting with the design of the agency volunteer brochure as well as other agency printed material.  Graphic design experience is preferrable but not required.  This person can work from home.  Computer and email is required.  Hours vary and are quite flexible.  Please email the volunteer manager for more information.
  • Birthday Cards:  The volunteer manager is seeking someone to assist with birthday cards.  This volunteer will assist in the preparing and mailing of birthday cards to all volunteers and clients each month.  Hours vary and are flexible.  Please email the volunteer manager for more information.
  • Buddy Program :The Buddy Program links persons with HIV/AIDS who have little or no support system with trained volunteers who assist them with socialization and activities of daily living. Clients receive needed assistance and Buddy-Volunteers receive not only the training needed to provide various levels of care to Clients, but also the satisfaction of knowing they are really helping someone who needs them.
  • Recruitment Committee:  The AIDGwinnett Volunteer Recruitment Committee assists the agency with identifying potential volunteers and recruiting volunteers in the various programs of the agency.  Volunteers interested in margeting and talking to people are ideal for this opportunity.  The first meeting is at AIDGwinnett on July 20.  We will meet in the conference room at 6:30 PM.  To RSVP call 678-990-6440 or email the volunteer manager .
