TOGA (Teaching Our Generation about AIDS)
TOGA volunteers are concerned local youth dedicated to teaching their peer about HIV/AIDS.
The TOGA program utilizes curricula that promote and encourage abstinence and postponing sexual involvement as the most effective methods of preventing the spread of HIV and other STDs. However, risk reduction behaviors and skills, including condom use, are discussed when appropriate.
Peer Presentations
The presentations are meant to be fun and interactive. They include:
· Role-plays and games
· Negotiation and refused skills
· Communication skills
· HIV and STD facts
TOGAs have given presentations in Gwinnett, Rockdale and Newton Counties:
· Schools
· Churches
· Detention Centers
· Youth Facilities
What?s Expected?
All TOGA volunteers receive thorough training and preparation. TOGA's attend monthly meetings, and must complete the following:
· AIDGwinnett TOGA Training Sessions
· AIDS 101
